Marylebone High Street Shopping by Mandy C

So you've exhausted Oxford Street, Bond Street is too expensive, Covent Garden is too busy and Soho is too scary. Is there anywhere else to go for Christmas shopping in the capital? Well - one place springs to mind.

Marylebone High Street is the hidden wonder of the West End - yet it is only a mere five minutes from Bond St. However - it is worth going the extra distance to shop somewhere where you have more space to browse, so you can escape the worst aspect about weekend shopping - other shoppers. I mean - Oxford St on a Saturday is all about being trampled on by other people, being scratched by their sharp cornered carrier bags and offended by their often tragic dress sense. Well honestly.

Ok, rant over - as here we are in Marylebone. Gorgeous things seem to shine out at me from the windows - I especially am quite taken with a beautiful leather handbag, and holdall. Travel in style baby! I also love the French designer furniture - lots of great gift ideas for the home in here - lovely delicate vases and lamps. Mmm.

Jewellery shops are well represented and they do lots of classic styles as well as funky modern designers. If you are thinking of buying silver or gold for anyone special (or lets face it - yourself!) then there are several shops along here that will give you your moneys worth!

Clothes - there are designer and not so designer shops for both ladies and gents out there - the gents styles are a tad on the formal side so the ladies are more well represented (isn't that always the way - sorry fella's!) - including wickedly feminine lingerie shops. Ooo - la - la!
